Piet Paaltjens Bêd en Brochje (Bed and Breakfast)
We live in the recently restored old rectory (1723) in Foudgum since 2004.
The famous pastor/poet Francois Haverschmidt, alias Piet Paaltjens lived in the rectory from 1859 to 1862. This place that inspired him to write his famous poems has become a special place for us as well. It feels like time has stood still in Foudgum. The idyllic mound garden with the small church in the background, the old ''monastery bricks'', the water well.
We have established two charming guestchambers to let more people enjoy this special place in Friesland. You will be sleeping under ancient beams, in rooms elegantly furnished in English style by owner/decorator Yfke Blom. The whole house is decorated with beautiful silk bouquets which are for sale as well. (www.yfkeblom.nl)
